Another spectacular, cloudless day! We have been blessed
with great weather! First stop this morning was the Whitney Museum of Western
Art at the Buffalo Bill center. We ran out of time yesterday! Some great pieces
on display by famous western artists – Remington, Proctor, Russell. We also
watched an owl program at the Nature Center.
Leaving Cody we went back through the Wild Bill Dam and
drove along the reservoir. We picked up some driftwood for a souvenir. This was a spectacular drive as we got to the
east entrance to Yellowstone. From there
up and over the mountain until we came
down upon Yellowstone Lake. Magnificent blue today! We ate our picnic lunch
overlooking the lake in front of the Lake Hotel.
From there continued south down to West Thumb Geyser Basin
and took the boardwalk. The thermal pools were spectacular. The kayakers were
too!
We left Yellowstone and continued south to the north entrance to Teton National Park and arrived at Colter Bay, our destination for the next two nights. For as many times as we’ve been in Yellowstone, we have barely scratched the surface of Tetons. We had an edible dinner at the John Colter Restaurant, all take-out, of course. Our cabin is very rustic and seems comfortable enough. My only complaint is that there is barely room to put a chair outside, and even then nothing to look at. Made us long for Mammoth! Of course, we have no TV or internet! And, no services are within walking distance. You have to drive everywhere.
